Whistler Day 4

 10th January

Skiing on our own

The snow had settled over night and we had crystal clear skies this morning which made for a beautiful day on the mountain. By the time we arrived at the gondala the que was much shorter than the previous day so crowds were down.

The snow wasnt quite as soft today, but it still made for nice skiing. Without the instructor, Belle and I werent quite as confident so travelled a little more cautiously today. Unfortunately this becomes a little frustrating for Joshua who spent a bit of time waiting at the bottom of slopes for us. He was very responsible though and never lost us.

On our final run I thought it would be a good idea to switch runs to the "Easiest route" which was the same run we actually did our lessons on last time we were here. This would lead us all the way around and down the mountain to the gondala so that we could download at the bottom.

I should have listened to Isabelles about this plan as some of the slopes that we hit seemed to be steeper and narrower that what we had already been skiing. Poor Isabelle ended up in tears at one point, taking off her ski's and sliding down on her bottom. Dont worry, I wasnt far from doing the same. Yes the majority of the route might be an easy run, but some of the slopes to get to these runs were not so nice. As Belle was exhausted, her and I ended up on a chair lift going up, so that we could catch the gondala down, while Joshua skiied all the way to the bottom.

I dont think Belle was too happy with me that day. We are looking forward to our rest day tomorrow. Lots of stretching ahead.
